The Beginning (Part I)

Hello world!

So, I've been thinking about starting a blog about my stay in Japan since… well, since before I moved to Japan. But now, a year and a half later, I think I'm finally ready to start one.
After consulting my trusted and friends as to what I should post first, it seemed as if starting from the beginning would be a good idea.
So, without further ado let us begin!

On January 3rd 1987 I was born. No wait… that's too far back. Ok, ok I'll start for real now.
My name is Shira, I'm 26 years old and I'm from Israel. I have loved Japanese anime, music, movies and general pop culture since I was around 12 years old (Pokémon does that to you). In June 2007 I had the opportunity to come to Japan for the first time. I went with my friend on a 3 weeks trip and we went pretty much everywhere important. I fell in love.
A surprise twist of fate (also known as extremely cheap plane tickets) made it possible for me to go AGAIN in August 2009. This time, I decided to make it a test run for living in Japan (I am the least impulsive person on the planet. There was no way I'd just up and move to Japan without testing the waters). I stayed here for 6 weeks, mostly in the Tokyo area and just tried to get around, make friends and have fun.
I did.
When I graduated from university, I went to New York City, got myself a TESOL certificate and started the long and exasperating quest for a job in Japan. It was not easy. I sent SO many resumes and only heard back from a couple. But in the end, I got my current job and in January 2012 I landed in Japan for the third time. This time of course was going to be completely different and so it was.

To be continued…
